Marilyn Kaye wanted to share her tale for this one bag she got from three different sites: Bagaholics, Fabaaa and Beubag. Three different Proenza Schouler PS1, three different kinds of quality. Jury may begin deliberations.
“A tale of one bag, three sites!
I’ve been wanting a Proenza Schouler PS1 for ages, and I was very excited to see the bag offered by three different replica sites: Fabaaa, Beubag, and Bagaholics. I ordered one, in different colors, from each site. I live in France, which has notoriously strict customs regulations in regard to replica handbags, so I wasn’t even sure I’d receive all the bags. But I did, and here’s my tale.
Fabaaa was the easiest site to deal with. The transaction was simple, I could pay by credit card, and the bag was promptly shipped. It was also the cheapest of the three — $183, which included shipping. The bag that arrived wasn’t bad at all — well designed and executed, and the camel color was nice. The big problem was the quality of the leather — stiff to the touch, and cheap looking.
Beubag wasn’t as easy to deal with, although the correspondence was pleasant and polite. They had an inexplicable problem with my credit card, which was eventually cleared up, and in their concern to avoid the French customs, they sent the bag to the UK where it was then forwarded to me. Delivery took three weeks. This bag too was well-made, and while the quality of the leather was better than the bag from Fabaaa, it wasn’t the best quality. This was also the most expensive bag, $339.
The third bag, from Bagaholics, was delayed too, and I had to write the company several times to ask for updates. I received responses within 48 hours. I received the bag in approximately two weeks. It’s clearly the best of the three; again, the design, stitching, hardware, etc. were impeccable, but this time I had a bag with soft leather that felt like real lambskin and it came with two shoulder straps in different styles. The color, khaki, is gorgeous — a sort of grayish taupe with a slightly green overtone, which is almost indistinguishable from the authentic bag’s color ‘military.’ The bag cost $315, and it’s totally worth it.
I’m not returning any of the bags — they are all wearable, and the first two will be given as gifts to friends’ teenage daughters who are less picky about the quality of leather than I am! The third, from Bagaholics, I will carry proudly. And as soon as my bank account is replenished, I will be hitting the Bagaholics website again!”
